It's been two months in the waiting, but the time has finally come for Atlanta styled barbecue in Croydon.

In July it was revealed that Miss P's Barbecue would be taking over the site of the Cricketers Pub at 107 Addiscombe Road.

Tonight (September 8) the store will open its doors for the first time.

On the restaurant's facebook account, one half of the couple responsible for bringing this store into existence opened up about what it has all meant to him.

"I started smoking barbecue in 2012 as a hobby,"Gianluca Ivaldi said.

"My mum pushed me to make a business of my passion and I came second in a business competition held by my former uni and won enough capital to get me started as a part time street food trader.

'Atlanta styled barbecue' restaurant Miss P's Barbecue coming to East Croydon

"The biggest shout-out goes to my wife (Annejaleen James), who has been there every step of the way and has put the work in, in every aspect of this business. Most importantly, she found the pub we are now trading from."

The restaurant initially started up a kickstarter to help with costs and said on the website they "have signed a long lease at the Cricketers pub in East Croydon. It allows us to smoke and serve our barbecue all on the same site. It also allows us to offer customers the complete barbecue experience - big trays of food with cold pints of beer."

This will be the first permanent site for the restaurant that boasts a menu that includes foods such as pulled pork, beef brisket and Cajun catfish.
